With degrees in English Literature and Publishing and over 15 years in the publishing industry, Rachel Carter is the founder, Managing Director and Principal Reader of the Children's Book Consultancy.

First at Mills & Boon, and then at the David Grossman Literary Agency, Rachel gained experience of a wide and varied spectrum of literary genres as well as a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the publishing process, from draft manuscript to published book and beyond.

Rachel joined the Laura Cecil Literary Agency in 1997, where she began to specialise in children's literature. Rachel has been providing literary consultancy since 1999, while working at one of the country's leading literary consultancies as well as independently, advising aspiring writers of literature for younger readers.

Rachel formed the Children's Book Consultancy in 2007, combining her deep industry knowledge with a love of children's literature and sound business experience to offer a comprehensive package of editorial advice and assessment to the amateur writer.
